If you were to sit down and review a stack of images…. Wait a minute, who prints images any more? Actually, I do… but that’s a totally different post. I digress. Let’s start again.
If you were to grab your iPad and review various photographers websites or online portfolios, assuming you were a student of the craft or A part-time photog, you’d notice that most images could be put into groupings or virtual piles of like images. I don’t mean groups like: Portraits and Landscapes. I’m referring to styles or trends that seem to spread like the latest fashion trends across internet to the point of over saturation (no pun intended) ie: lens flare, tilt shift (miniatures), over saturations, muted color, textured, etc….
In my opinion this recent realization can be attributed to the age of information sharing and the ever growing popularity of Photoshop. I don’t think many people would argue that both phenomena have been major contributors in the photography world but are either or both having any negative effects? What do you think?
